Professional makeup artist, mother, and student of life, Melissa Cubberley
This month we're spotlighting Top HAC-er, Melissa Cubberley, from Chattanooga, TN
January 17, 2019
Melissa is a professional makeup artist based in Chattanooga, TN with over a decade of experience in the beauty industry. She believes makeup is a beautiful form of art, self expression & confidence! Melissa found Cara’s blog in 2010 and says that she had to have the first generation of the product when it was released on Black Friday in 2013, so she is one of Maskcara’s OG ladies.
I have been using it and recommending it to my clients ever since - and it has only continued to improve!
She is passionate about empowering women to look and feel their best, with or without makeup. When she isn't working a wedding or training her Maskcara team, you can find her reading a good nonfiction book, going to concerts, and spending time with her husband, Andy, and 2 year old son, Roman.
Melissa is ringing in the new year with some solid resolutions: to be more present with family and to also provide more video content on social media. You may catch her binging The OA on Netflix in her downtime, or maybe snacking on some tacos or nachos- she says she could eat Mexican everyday! When asked what the coolest place she’s ever been, she replied, “Zanzibar, Tanzania. A hidden gem of Middle Eastern culture mixed with East African culture, on the most gorgeous white sand beaches. Paradise!”
Melissa took a leap of faith when signing up as an Artist when enrollment opened in January 2017. She remembers at the time her views on direct sales were not what they are now. Currently being one of Maskcara’s top performers, it is safe to say she is so happy she trusted her gut feeling. As a top performer, Melissa says, “You don’t have to be a pro makeup artist or a blogger to be successful in this business- you have to be genuine. People are always watching and they want what YOU have to offer. Get outside of your comfort zone and get creative to reach new customers! I’m a big believer in always being a student in life- you can never stop learning and perfecting your craft- so if there’s something you’re not confident in, reach out to your fellow artists and learn all that you can until you master it!”
