More Than Makeup

Maskcara gave me a purpose, community, motivation, and confidence

It’s no coincidence that @maskcarabeauty came into my life when it did; three months after my husband was diagnosed with leukemia, four months after moving to a new state thanks to the navy. ⁣ ⁣ I had coffee with a friend yesterday (who I met because of Maskcara, by the way) and we started talking about Maskcara. I was thinking back on all the little (and huge) ways it’s changed my life over the last two years, and I was honestly blown away.

It’s crazy to me that a simple (but scary) decision and some makeup completely changed my life. I was spiraling quickly into depression. I remember laying on the couch for hours, with no desire to get up. I didn’t feel like myself, I didn’t look like myself. I didn’t know where I belonged besides at the hospital next to J.

Maskcara gave me a purpose, community, motivation, and confidence. (Not to mention helped us both pay off our student loans 🙌🏼). It brought back who I was before cancer… and then it pushed me to be an even better version of myself. ⁣ ⁣ The me that’s writing this today barely recognizes the me from 2 years ago – and a lot of that is because I found this cool makeup company that seemed like a good way to simplify my routine and save some money. ⁣ ⁣ Best. Decision. Ever.
